Design in the Classroom

Graphic design is about clear communication, and it can be a powerful pedagogical tool. Particularly for introductory courses, I use media in the classroom to aid clarity of thought and introduce students to complex topics. I find that it also increases student engagement and attention. A well-designed syllabus and VLE page helps students understand what is expected of them at a glance. Promotional materials for faculty events increase attendance and help build excitement for extra-curricular activities. For an example of how I use design, see the lecture below. This talk was for a public audience of non-specialists, so I used visual aids to introduce them to classical Christology.
