Thomas Aquinas’s Cognitive Psychology

Thomas Aquinas’s philosophical anthropology is sufficiently insightful and nuanced to remain a serious contender in contemporary discussions. However, it is also one of the more complex areas of Aquinas’s thought, and an area where many students of Thomas struggle to find a footing. I created this diagram during the course of writing a chapter on cognitive theory for my doctoral thesis, and many have found it helpful to explicate Aquinas’s approach. You are welcome to use it for your own teaching of Aquinas.
